Why Donate to ASA?
We Are a Small, Local Organization
Money donated to our organization stays in our local community and spent within our local community on educational materials and spiritual items. All of the members of our Board of Directors and staff are volunteers; money is spent on items for workshops, charity drives, and special projects.
We are currently fundraising for the Acadiana Spiritual Center, a worship hall which will be able to be booked by any spiritual organization whose members are members of ASA for the purpose of public workship space. The Acadiana Spiritual Center will also serve as community center for workshops and classes which will enhance the mind, body, and spirit. To regularly maintain the building, the hall will be rented for private events, such as weddings, baptisms, for-profit classes & workshops, anniversaries, birthdays, and other special private occasions. Spaces in the building may also be leased to local venders.
Small Donations Have an Impact
When giving to an effective charity, the size of your donation directly correlates with the number of people you are able to reach out to. But you don't have to be a millionaire to make a significant difference; even small donations have the potential to drastically improve an individual's quality of life.
Acadiana Spiritual Association has created a donation system that allows you to decide how much and how often you would like to donate. You can made a small one time donation or set an automatic monthly donation. $1 a month seems like a small contribution; however, if many people contribute just a little, we could have something great. A monthly pledge is perhaps the single most important commitment of support that can be made to ensure that the Acadiana Spiritual Association will be held in trust and perpetuity.
Giving Makes Us Happier
Research has shown that spending money on ourselves does not significantly increase our sense of happiness or wellbeing. A Harvard Business School study suggests that giving to others is directly correlated with an increased sense of happiness. Other studies have shown that people experience pleasure when they see money go to charity, even if this money is not their own. People experience the most pleasure when they give directly to charity themselves.
It's A Way of Taking a Stand
Sometimes you have to walk the walk and talk the talk to make a difference. Contributing to the Acadiana Spiritual Association promotes diversity, tolerance, education, and acceptance of minor religious and spiritualities in our area. Our financial books are open to our members. Currently, The Board of Directors holds $353.91 in trust as of October 3, 2016. This is far away from our goal of raising $25,000 this year to begin prospecting for our future home.
Giving is Tax-Deductible
Acadiana Spiritual Association is classified as a 501c(3) charity organization by the Internal Revenue Service, which makes each donation tax deductible. You may use your online receipt for your donations at the end of the financial year. These tax savings in effect reduce the cost of your donation . For example, an individual in the 15% tax bracket who donates $100 to a registered non-profit receives $15 in tax savings. An individual in the 35% tax bracket receives $35 in tax savings on the same $100 donation.
